Overview

Flight Support continues to spearhead new approaches to both the repair and salvage of aircraft engine components. Most unique is the invention of “Recast” a process to restore dimensions to airfoils and adjacent configurations without welding. The process includes the use of known technologies that have existed separately in the industry for over 30 years. It combines them to make a product which is better than the results of either one.

Laser welding is the newly utilized technology as part of a 5 axis CNC with a vision system. The product of this type of welding on superalloys is superb. It has low heat effected zones and minimal cracks as compared to hand T.I.G. welding.
